Contribution to the science/profession: Recognized for significant contributions to the understanding of the kinetics, mechanisms, and modeling approaches for the behavior of renewable and fossil materials in thermochemical conversion processes.

Contribution to the ACS community: Held leadership positions in the Division of Fuel Chemistry (Chair, Program Chair, and Program Secretary), now the Division of Energy and Fuels, and was Head Trustee during a period of significant growth in the Division Trust Fund.
